What happened: July EV retail sales jumped and segment-wise shares rose
Electric vehicle retail sales in India increased sharply in July, rising about two-thirds year-on-year to 3,27,901 units according to Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA) data. The reported market outcome implies that nearly one in eight vehicles sold was electric.

Electric two-wheelers: Sales crossed 2,00,000 units for the first time, reaching 2,04,362 units (up 88% year-on-year). Market share increased to 11.2% from 7.7% a year earlier. TVS Motor led this segment.E-three-wheelers: Market share rose to 65.1% (from 60.3% a year earlier). Sales reached 87,055 units (up 25.3%). Mahindra Group led this segment.Electric commercial vehicles (e-CVs): Market share nearly tripled to 3.57% from 1.65%. Sales were 3,556 units (up 169%). Tata Motors led this segment.Passenger EVs: Market share increased to 7.9% from 5.1%. Sales were 32,928 units (up 83%). Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles led this segment.
