What happened

The resolution plan must set responsibilities, targets, and timelines.The Court directed the use of satellite mapping and AI-based surveillance for environmental monitoring and enforcement.The Court ordered Rajasthan to constitute a river commission headed by the Chief Secretary and comprising domain experts to oversee river conservation across the State.

The Supreme Court initiated the matter in a suo motu proceeding in September 2025, after taking cognisance of reports of extensive pollution in the Jojari, Bandi and Luni rivers.
