What happened
Police strengthened security around Sansad Marg in central Delhi after minor clashes during a protest. Barricades and riot-control vehicles were placed at both ends of the road, while thousands of protesters continued to occupy the stretch from Connaught Place toward Tolstoy Marg.
Internet services were suspended in the area and metro stations were closed, making access difficult for protesters and students. Police also stopped students in autorickshaws and prevented some from walking toward Jantar Mantar, citing prohibitory orders.

Protesters were already present on Sansad Marg before security was stepped up. A former students’ association leader said the protest size was likely larger than what could be seen on the ground because many participants could not reach the site after closures and stoppages.
