6.17 lakh Waqf properties approved on UMEED portal, says Minority Affairs Ministry
Minority Affairs Ministry reports large-scale validation and approval of Waqf properties on the UMEED Central Portal-2025

The Minority Affairs Ministry has reported progress on the UMEED Central Portal-2025 for Waqf property records. The portal is being used to digitise, validate, and approve Waqf properties, which makes the update relevant for governance, land administration, and minority institutions.
In reply to an unstarred question in the Lok Sabha from Trinamool Congress MP Sajda Ahmed, Minority Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju said that Waqf properties had been initiated for uploading on the portal and that a large share had already cleared verification and approval. The ministry also said that a smaller share remained in the uploading pipeline, while a separate set was rejected during verification.

UPSC can frame the issue around administrative transparency, verification of religious property records, mutation and audit mechanisms, and the role of digitised portals in reducing duplication and disputes. The topic also connects to statutory authority, institutional capacity, and implementation challenges in land governance.
