What happened
The police booked Doley under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023 in a case registered at Bokakhat police station. He was taken to Dispur police station in Guwahati for interrogation and was to be handed over to Bokakhat Police for further legal proceedings.
The police identify Doley as a leader associated with protest campaigns against proposed luxury hotels near Kaziranga National Park. Doley said he was detained without paperwork and questioned the suppression of dissent.
