What happened
The United States has imposed new sanctions on Cuba. The measures target state-owned firms linked to fuel imports and other trade-related activity, as well as militia groups and the Tourism Ministry.
The release says the Trump administration has intensified pressure on Havana since January, including sanctions and what it describes as an oil blockade.
