The Board of Control for Cricket in India has revised several playing conditions for the 2026-27 domestic season. The changes are aimed at match discipline, game flow, and on-field management in domestic cricket.
What changed
The Board of Control for Cricket in India has introduced a stricter penalty for bowlers who repeatedly bowl deliberate front-foot no-balls or non-landing deliveries. Such a bowler will now be suspended for the rest of the match, instead of being limited to an innings-based sanction.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India has also changed the treatment of the last over and the final innings. The last over must be completed even if a wicket falls, and teams may no longer declare or forfeit the final innings.
The revised playing conditions also say that wicketkeepers need only keep their gloves behind the stumps at the moment of delivery. In addition, coaches may be allowed onto the field during drinks breaks in domestic one-day matches.
