What happened: Dwarka suicide case and police steps

A 30-year-old Assistant Section Officer (ASO) of the Ministry of Defence allegedly died by suicide in south-west Delhi’s Dwarka. Police said the woman was found dead at her residence in Bharthal village on August 21. The victim married earlier in the year.

Police described the early procedural sequence after receiving information:

PCR (Police Control Room) call was received at 4:21 p.m. on August 21.Police officers reached the residence, took the body into custody, and informed the concerned Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) as required under the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023.Police reported that they had not made arrests by Monday, three days after the August 21 incident.

The victim’s family gave different accounts to the SDM across successive visits:

On the first SDM interaction, the victim’s family told the SDM there was no suspicion of foul play and did not accuse the husband or other in-laws.On the next day, the victim’s family approached the SDM again and alleged that the husband and in-laws had mentally harassed the victim, and that the harassment contributed to the victim’s death.
