What happened: Piyush Goyal’s four-day business visit to Japan
Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal is scheduled to begin a Japan visit leading a 200-member business delegation for four days, starting on Monday. The stated purpose is to strengthen India–Japan trade and investment ties through business meetings and industry interactions.
The delegation’s travel plan includes Tokyo, Nagoya, and Osaka. The delegation includes participants from sectors such as manufacturing, semiconductors, clean energy, steel, automotive, financial services, healthcare, and startups, along with representation from FICCI (Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry).
In Tokyo, Piyush Goyal is expected to hold meetings with top leadership of major Japanese conglomerates and industrial houses that have partnered with India’s growth. The Tokyo programme also includes a round-table with Keidanren, the Japanese business federation representing over 1,500 Japanese companies.
The visit is expected to conclude in Osaka with an investors/business roadshow and further meetings with leading Japanese firms.
