Israeli airstrikes in the Gaza Strip reportedly killed three people on Sunday. Rescuers reported impacts in Al-Zawayda and in the Nuseirat refugee camp.

Rescuers stated that one strike in Al-Zawayda killed two people, including a four-year-old child. Rescuers stated that another strike hit the Nuseirat refugee camp and killed one person.

The Israeli military stated that one of the strikes targeted a “terrorist.”

Background and earlier position

The Israel–Palestine conflict has seen repeated airstrike episodes in Gaza where casualty claims from on-ground reporting and rescuer accounts are paired with military statements about targeting armed actors. Such episodes raise questions about how civilian harm is determined and how targeting claims are substantiated under uncertainty.
