What happened: Jharkhand cancels JPSC exams; ED probe announced amid protests
Jharkhand’s government cancelled the 14th Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) preliminary exam and cancelled JPSC backlog examinations held in 2023 and 2025 after talks with protesting student groups.
The Technical and Higher Education Minister said most protest demands were accepted. The minister announced an Enforcement Directorate (ED) probe into alleged financial irregularities in the JPSC exam process.
Student protesters continued to demand a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into alleged irregularities in the Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC)-Combined Graduate Level (CGL) exam and related matters. Protesters planned to continue agitation, including a march to the Jharkhand State Assembly.

The cancellation announcement came after all three JPSC members resigned. The Chief Minister assured protesters that justice would be delivered transparently.
