What happened: DU permitted board-based admissions at two colleges after CUET-linked vacancies
Delhi University’s CUET (Common University Entrance Test)-linked centralised admission process left many seats vacant at two Delhi University colleges located on Delhi’s outskirts: Aditi Mahavidyalaya (Bawana) and Bhagini Nivedita College (near Najafgarh). With nearly 2,000 seats remaining unfilled in the usual CUET-linked centralised admission process, Delhi University permitted board-based admissions at these two colleges using Class 12 board results.
Seat vacancy figures in the reported accounts were:
- Aditi Mahavidyalaya: since CUET-linked DU admissions started in 2022, the college filled no more than about 40% of its seats and still had around 1,000 vacant seats. - Bhagini Nivedita College: 985 seats remained unfilled.
Delhi University’s permission enabled a parallel intake route during the admission cycle. The earlier practice mentioned for Delhi University was a mop-up round using board marks to fill vacancies after CUET-linked rounds, while the current cycle included permission for Aditi Mahavidyalaya and Bhagini Nivedita College to run separate board-based admissions using Class 12 results.
