What happened: PM–USHA/MERU approvals for Andhra Pradesh
The Ministry of Education approved higher-education support in Andhra Pradesh under the PM–USHA umbrella, with implementation activities under the MERU component. The government information states that 33 units have been approved for support in Andhra Pradesh for a total approved amount of Rs. 378.74 crore. The approvals include funding support of Rs. 100 crore for Sri Padmavathi Mahila Visva Vidyalayam, Tirupati under the MERU component.

Under the MERU component, universities in the respective States/Union Territories are expected to undertake mandatory academic and governance activities. The Ministry’s stated expectations include the following:
Implementation of the National Credit Framework (NCrF) and Choice Based Credit System (CBCS).Implementation of an elective course system (students should be able to choose elective courses).Adoption of the Academic Bank of Credits (ABC) (a system to store and manage a learner’s credits for future academic use).
