What happened in Parliament (Monsoon Session)

The Monsoon Session, scheduled to end on Thursday, saw limited parliamentary business because of disruptions.

The Opposition demanded that Home Minister Amit Shah respond in Parliament to allegations of police excess connected to protests relating to the NEET paper leak on July 20.

The Parliamentary Affairs Minister stated that the Opposition was “running away” from debate. The government’s position was that Parliament could hold the discussion even if agreement is reached for debate on the following day.

The Parliamentary Affairs Minister also indicated that the time allocated for discussion could be increased, in order to allow adequate debate.
