Karnataka protest groups associated with the Cauvery basin water dispute continued demonstrations around Cauvery-basin reservoir areas, including outside the KRS reservoir.

Police detained BJP workers and BJP leaders during the protests. Reported detentions included BJP state president B.Y. Vijayendra and R. Ashok, the leader of the opposition in the Karnataka Assembly.

BJP threatened to boycott an all-party meeting scheduled for Sunday unless Karnataka’s Chief Minister gave a commitment to not release water to Tamil Nadu.
