What happened

The National Medicinal Plants Board (NMPB) under the Ministry of Ayush is implementing a Central Sector Scheme for the conservation, development and sustainable management of medicinal plants across India. The scheme is designed to promote cultivation, strengthen the medicinal-plant value chain, and improve the marketability and quality of medicinal plant produce.

Scheme components

The scheme supports both conservation and cultivation-related interventions. It also tries to connect farmers, forest-linked institutions, and market systems so that medicinal plants move from raw collection to organized production and sale.
