What happened: NMPB support for Ladakh medicinal plants plus e-CHARAK market portal
The Union Minister of State (I/C) for AYUSH, Shri Prataprao Jadhav, stated that the government is supporting Ladakh’s cultivation of high-altitude medicinal plants and is implementing NMPB project-based support under the Central Sector Scheme (CSS) “Conservation, Development and Sustainable Management of Medicinal Plants” across India, including Ladakh.
The government highlighted Ladakh’s potential for cultivating high-altitude medicinal plants such as seabuckthorn, rhodiola, artemisia, and aconitum. NMPB has also launched e-CHARAK, a mobile application and web portal, to promote and market medicinal plants and herbs, including by sharing market price information and supporting linkages between farmers/collectors and companies.
