Electrification status of Indian Railways; 100% BG electrification in Jammu & Kashmir and electrification in new lines/multi-tracking
Ministry of Railways announced about 99.6% Broad Gauge electrification completed on Indian Railways, with 100% BG electrification in Jammu & Kashmir and electrification built into all new line/multi-tracking projects.
What happened: electrification progress on Indian Railways (Broad Gauge)
The Ministry of Railways said Indian Railways electrification of railway networks has been taken up in mission mode. The Ministry reported that about 99.6% of the Broad Gauge (BG) network has been electrified, and electrification of the remaining network is under way.
The Ministry also provided a break-up of route-kilometres electrified in different time periods and highlighted Jammu & Kashmir as a case where the existing BG network is fully electrified.
