What happened
The government communicated PMFBY premium caps and the subsidy sharing pattern between the Centre and the States. The communication specifies the maximum premium rates farmers pay and how the remaining premium is shared as Government subsidy, including a special sharing ratio for North-Eastern and Himalayan States/Union Territories.
PMFBY: farmer premium caps
Under PMFBY premium norms, farmers pay capped premium rates as follows:
Kharif: maximum premium of 2%Rabi foodgrain and oilseed crops: maximum premium of 1.5%Commercial and horticultural crops: maximum premium of 5%
