What happened
Union Minister of Jal Shakti C.R. Patil said technology succeeds only when communities can use it easily. At the Grand Finale in New Delhi, he stressed that the Jal Jeevan Mission has expanded tap-water access to rural households, and that the next priority must be water safety so that every household receives safe drinking water.
UPSC may ask how technology can improve last-mile governance in drinking-water safety and decentralised waste management, especially through Gram Panchayats, Village Water and Sanitation Committees, and community participation. The issue also fits questions on Jal Jeevan Mission, Swachh Bharat Mission (Grameen), circular economy, and rural innovation ecosystems.
