The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) reported a road surface cave-in at Km 55+480 on the Delhi–Dehradun Economic Corridor on July 1, 2026. This incident resulted from localized water stagnation due to heavy rainfall and issues with the permanent cross-drainage system.
Post rainfall, NHAI's project team detected the issue and promptly initiated repair works to ensure traffic safety. However, the culvert designed for drainage could not be commissioned because of local resistance, which used the culvert for vehicular access instead.
