In a major boost to India's civil aviation sector, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi today launched the next phase of UDAN (Ude Desh ka Aam Nagrik) and inaugurated the New Terminal Building (NTB) at Jodhpur Airport.
The event was attended by key dignitaries including Rajasthan's Governor and Union Ministers.
Launched in October 2016, the UDAN Scheme has operationalized 669 routes and connected 95 airports, benefiting over 1.66 crore passengers.
The Modified UDAN Scheme approved by the Union Cabinet, has an outlay of ₹29,000 crore over ten years to accelerate regional air connectivity.
It aims to develop 100 aerodromes and includes ₹2,577 crore for regional airport operations.
