The Union Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment (MoSJE) has initiated measures for senior citizens' welfare through the Atal Vayo Abhyudaya Yojana (AVYAY). This scheme promotes inclusivity and reflects the government's commitment to 'Ageing with Dignity'.

Secretary Shri Sudhansh Pant announced that Rs. 24.06 crores were allocated for 202 projects under the Integrated Programme for Senior Citizens (IPSr.C.) for the quarter ending June 30, 2026.

Under the Rashtriya Vayoshri Yojana, 53,776 beneficiaries received 269,747 assistive devices. Additionally, coverage of senior citizen homes is expanding to 30 more Gap Districts.

The launch of the 'JEEVAN' mobile app and 'SHATAYU' dashboard aims to enhance access to welfare services for senior citizens.
