The Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) facilitated the virtual flag-off of the first export shipment of Areko Cherries (High-Density European Sweet Cherries) and Scentrose Plums from Jammu & Kashmir to the UAE.

The consignment includes one metric tonne of stone fruits sourced from Shopian and Pulwama districts, emphasizing the export potential of Jammu & Kashmir’s horticultural produce.

APEDA Chairman Abhishek Dev highlighted that the initiative will significantly benefit farmers, providing them with access to international markets and better price realizations.

Growers realized nearly 60% higher returns for cherries and 120% for plums compared to domestic prices, demonstrating value addition from exports.
