India and Australia have released a Roadmap for Sports Collaboration to expand bilateral cooperation in sports. It builds on the 2023 Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Cooperation in Sports and focuses on practical areas such as coaching, research, major events, sports business and women’s sport.
The roadmap is linked to a wider sporting calendar, including the 2030 Commonwealth Games in Ahmedabad, the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games, and India’s ambition to host a future Olympic and Paralympic Games.

The 2023 sports MoU created the institutional base for bilateral collaboration. The new roadmap moves from broad cooperation to a more operational agenda with identified priorities, flexible arrangements and case-by-case resourcing.
What changed now
The roadmap sets out five focus areas: capacity building, sports science and technology, major sporting events, sports industry and investment, and women in sports. It also states that implementation will be pragmatic, outcomes-focused and aligned with available resources and major event timelines.
