The Ministry of Rural Development and the Bihar Rural Livelihoods Promotion Society held a two-day regional workshop in Gaya Ji on the strategy for making 6 crore Lakhpati Didis. The workshop is important for UPSC because it links a women’s livelihood mission with mission design, digital monitoring, and inter-state implementation under DAY-NRLM.
The workshop ended with a strategy, roadmap, and Annual Action Plan for FY 2026–27. The stated aim is to expand the number of rural women with annual incomes of at least ₹1 lakh through farm and non-farm livelihoods, market linkages, convergence, and digital management information systems (MIS).
What happened
The workshop was organised at the Bihar Institute of Public Administration and Rural Development (BIPARD), Gaya Ji, by the Ministry of Rural Development in collaboration with Bihar Rural Livelihoods Promotion Society (BRLPS-JEEVIKA). It was addressed virtually by Shri Rohit Kansal, Secretary, Ministry of Rural Development.
The event was attended by officials from Bihar and several State Rural Livelihood Missions, including Shri Pankaj Kumar, Principal Secretary, Rural Development Department, Government of Bihar; Dr. Safeena A. N., Additional Director General, BIPARD; Smt. Swati Sharma, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Rural Development; Shri Himanshu Sharma, Chief Executive Officer, BRLPS-JEEVIKA; and Smt. Ananya Singh, Additional Chief Executive Officer, BRLPS-JEEVIKA.
