What happened: DAY–NRLM reported SHG scaling and SHG market linkages
The Ministry of Rural Development reported implementation of Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana – National Rural Livelihoods Mission (DAY–NRLM) across India except Delhi and Chandigarh. DAY–NRLM aims to organize rural households into Self Help Groups (SHGs) and to continuously support SHGs to achieve income increases and improved quality of life. The government-reported progress also includes steps to strengthen market access for SHG products through branding, retail and online channels.
Four core components of DAY–NRLM (how the mission is designed)
DAY–NRLM is implemented through four core components:
- Social mobilization and promotion of self-managed, financially sustainable community institutions of the rural poor (SHGs and their supporting structures).
