Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the start of India’s first hydrogen train service between Jind and Sonipat in Haryana. The launch matters because it links a transport milestone with the larger agenda of modernising Indian Railways and testing cleaner propulsion technologies in public mobility.
What happened
The address said the hydrogen train between Jind and Sonipat has begun running. The Prime Minister described it as the most powerful hydrogen train in the world, with 3,200 horsepower, and said it is a 10-coach train. The address also said the train was designed by Indian engineers and built by an Indian company.

The same programme mentioned development projects worth more than ₹14,000 crore for Haryana. The listed projects included railway and highway works, heritage-linked projects, and two new medical colleges: Pandit Neki Ram Sharma Medical College, Bhiwani, and Maharshi Chyavan Medical College and Rao Tularam Hospital, Narnaul.
The address also said the Haryana section of the Delhi–Amritsar–Katra Expressway was inaugurated, the Jind–Gohana National Highway was dedicated to the nation, and the Ambala–Kala Amb four-lane road was highlighted as a connectivity project for Haryana and Himachal Pradesh.
