What happened
The Prime Minister inaugurated 75 redeveloped railway stations under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. The Ministry of Railways described the stations as passenger-centric transit hubs with better amenities, improved accessibility, and architecture that reflects local and regional heritage.
The release said that this was the second nationwide dedication of redeveloped stations under the scheme. The earlier batch, on 22 May 2025, covered 103 stations across 18 States and Union Territories.
Background and earlier position
Indian Railways has been using station redevelopment as a visible part of railway modernisation. The Amrit Bharat Station Scheme is the current umbrella for upgrading stations into better passenger facilities, with emphasis on accessibility, circulation space, and local design cues.
Before the latest inauguration, the scheme had already seen a large first nationwide dedication in May 2025. The new batch extends that rollout and shows that station redevelopment is being pursued in phases rather than as a single one-time project.
