What happened
President Droupadi Murmu arrived in Chisinau, Moldova, on 20 July 2026 on the first leg of her State Visit to Moldova, North Macedonia and Romania. The visit is the first by an Indian President to Moldova and signals an effort to deepen India-Moldova ties through high-level political engagement.
President Droupadi Murmu met President Maia Sandu at the Presidential Palace in Chisinau. The two sides held a one-to-one meeting and delegation-level talks, and both Presidents issued statements to the press.
What the two sides discussed
The discussion covered the full range of bilateral ties. The Indian side emphasised trade and investment, resilient supply chains, better connectivity, and closer business-to-business engagement.
The two Presidents also agreed to strengthen cooperation in agriculture, logistics and infrastructure, healthcare and pharmaceuticals, renewable energy, Digital Public Infrastructure, Artificial Intelligence, and innovation.
