President Droupadi Murmu’s state visit to North Macedonia brought India’s highest constitutional office into direct bilateral engagement with Skopje. What happened
President Droupadi Murmu reached Skopje on the second leg of her state visits to Moldova, North Macedonia and Romania. The Presidency described the visit as the first visit by an Indian President to North Macedonia. At Villa Vodno, the official residence and office of the President of North Macedonia, she met President Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova for one-to-one talks and delegation-level discussions.
The two sides discussed the full range of bilateral cooperation and exchanged views on regional and global issues of mutual interest. The talks reaffirmed friendly bilateral ties based on democratic values and mutual respect.
What changed now
The visit moved India-North Macedonia relations beyond routine diplomatic contact into a higher-profile presidential exchange. The Presidency also said India will double Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) training slots for North Macedonia and include courses in Artificial Intelligence.
