The Union Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways has reported progress under the Sagarmala Programme, a central sector scheme for port-led development. The update is relevant because the scheme links maritime infrastructure, logistics efficiency, industrial development, and greener port operations.
The Ministry said the scheme supports projects under five pillars: port modernisation, port connectivity, port-led industrialization, coastal community development, and coastal shipping and inland water transport.

The reply included state-wise project status, budgetary allocation and utilisation, port-capacity data, and average vessel turnaround information for major and non-major ports.
