What happened
The Ministry of Home Affairs has created a separate recruitment category for Ex-Agniveers in recruitment for the post of Constable (General Duty) in Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) and Rifleman in Assam Rifles. The policy gives Ex-Agniveers a preferential route into these forces and changes the usual recruitment filters.
Key provisions announced by the Ministry of Home Affairs
UPSC can ask about the policy design for Ex-Agniveers, the role of Central Armed Police Forces and Assam Rifles in internal security, and the recruitment trade-offs between fast-track entry and merit screening. A mains question can also examine whether such preferential recruitment supports smooth post-service absorption without weakening standards.
