What happened: ASI maintenance and outreach for freedom-movement heritage
In a written reply in the Lok Sabha, Union Minister for Culture and Tourism Shri Gajendra Singh Shekhawat reported details of museums, memorials, and interpretation centres related to the Indian freedom movement, freedom fighters, and the national independence struggle.
The Ministry of Culture stated that the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) takes up maintenance and upgradation of museums and exhibitions connected with India’s freedom movement, based on requirement.
The Ministry of Culture also stated that ASI organises outreach programmes on important occasions, with support from local educational and heritage partners.
