What happened: CAQM reviews legacy dust removal across all 12 MCD zones
CAQM reviewed progress of the Special Campaign for Removal of Legacy Dust carried out across all 12 Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) zones. CAQM directed that the campaign must continue as a sustained, phased exercise with periodic repetition, continuous monitoring, and regular maintenance, instead of being treated as a one-time initiative.
CAQM held a review meeting under the chairmanship of Shri Tarun Kumar Pithode, Member Secretary, CAQM. Deputy Commissioners or representatives of all MCD zones presented status, achievements, challenges, and the way forward. The meeting followed up on a CAQM letter issued on 11.05.2026.
Background and earlier position: CAQM’s directive to Dust Control and Management Cells
Earlier, CAQM directed the Dust Control and Management Cells (DCMCs) in Delhi to identify, remove, and ensure scientific disposal of legacy dust from roads, roadsides, medians, footpaths, and other associated areas within their jurisdiction.
