What happened (Government approval and Karnataka-specific rollout)
The Ministry of Cooperation approved the Centrally Sponsored Project for computerisation of functional Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS) on 29.06.2022. The project aims to bring all functional PACS on a common ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning)-based National Software, with an emphasis on operational efficiency, transparency, and improved service delivery.
The project started with an approval for 63,000 PACS and expanded to 79,630 PACS, with a revised total financial outlay of ₹2,925.39 crore. In Karnataka, the project has 5,894 sanctioned PACS under the computerisation programme.
