What happened (Lok Sabha reply and released data links)
On 8 August 2026, the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment informed the Lok Sabha through a written reply by Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment Shri Ramdas Athawale to a question by Shri Tariq Anwar. The reply linked policy-relevant demographic and education-attendance information to Government data sources and also updated service representation figures for Scheduled Castes.
The written reply stated that the following information is available through official Government portals:
Census 2011 caste-wise Scheduled Caste data
The Government stated that caste-wise population data for various Scheduled Castes and caste-wise Scheduled Caste population attending educational institutions in States and Union Territories are available from the Census 2011 conducted by the Office of the Registrar General & Census Commissioner, India on the Census of India portal.
