What happened: PM SVANidhi outcomes on credit, digital payments, and welfare linkages (up to 12 July 2026)
The Prime Minister Street Vendor’s AtmaNirbhar Nidhi (PM SVANidhi) scheme targets urban street vendors with collateral-free working capital loans and incentives for formal and digital financial behaviour. A PIB update states that, since the scheme launch on 1 June 2020, 76.95 lakh street vendors have availed more than 1.15 crore collateral-free loans amounting to ₹18,475 crore up to 12 July 2026.
Credit access and “loan graduation” to higher tranches
The PIB update also reports tranche-wise uptake and progression. As on 12 July 2026, 29.71 lakh vendors have availed the 2nd loan tranche and 8.49 lakh vendors have availed the 3rd loan tranche. The stated mechanism is that repayment enables vendors to move to higher loan tranches.
Impact evidence from ISB studies (2023 and 2025)
The impact of PM SVANidhi has been assessed through studies conducted by the Indian School of Business (ISB), Hyderabad in 2023 and 2025.
