What happened (Keynote in Jaipur on NDB and private capital)
Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman delivered the keynote at a Jaipur seminar titled “The Role of the New Development Bank in Mobilising Private Capital in Member Countries” on 12 August 2026.
The seminar was held alongside the BRICS Finance Ministers’ and Central Bank Governors (FMCBG) meeting in Jaipur. H.E. Ms. Dilma Rousseff delivered a special address, with participation from Ms. Anuradha Thakur, Secretary, Department of Economic Affairs (DEA), Ministry of Finance, and Mr. Vijay Sankar, Senior Vice President, FICCI.

Nirmala Sitharaman’s keynote argued that multilateral development banks can help mobilise private capital when they reduce investment risk (de-risking), improve project bankability (making projects financeable), and strengthen investor confidence (trust in stability and long-term execution).
