What happened (Rajya Sabha reply on access to higher education via digital platforms)
The Ministry of Education reported in a Rajya Sabha written reply that the Government is using technology-enabled education platforms to improve access to learning opportunities and employability. The Minister of State for Education, Dr Sukanta Majumdar, stated details for two main components: NIELIT’s digital university platform and the SWAYAM Plus employability courses under NMEICT.
NIELIT Digital University (NDU) Platform: platform-based access to skill-based courses
NIELIT (National Institute of Electronics & Information Technology), under the Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology (MeitY), launched the NIELIT Digital University (NDU) Platform in October 2025 to facilitate access to digital learning opportunities, including for learners from rural, remote and tribal areas.
