What happened (DoT, ITU, and the three selected youth envoys)

The Ministry of Communications through the Department of Telecommunications (DoT), Government of India facilitated the selection of three Indian Sanchar Mitras (youth volunteers) as ITU Generation Connect Youth Envoys (GCYE) for the period 2026–2030. The selection recognises youth contributions under DoT’s Sanchar Mitra scheme and connects them to an international platform led by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU).

The three selected youth envoys named by DoT are:

DoT announced the selection in the context of International Youth Day 2026 and also mentioned a virtual event titled “Passing the Torch: Connecting Generations of Digital Leaders” that brought together outgoing and incoming Generation Connect cohorts.
