What happened on August 18 at Pusa campus (New Delhi)
Union Minister for Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare and Rural Development, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, will administer a pledge to officials of both ministries at the Pusa campus in New Delhi on August 18. The pledge follows the “Sapt Dhara of Shakti” outlined by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his Independence Day address on August 15.
The August 18 programme is designed to translate the “Viksit Bharat by 2047” vision into an actionable roadmap for agriculture and rural development by reviewing departmental priorities and implementation plans. The programme will include participants such as progressive farmers, Lakhpati Didis (women beneficiaries of the programme), agricultural exporters, and food processors.
Key agenda areas mentioned in the pledge programme
The August 18 meeting is reported to focus on three main agenda items:
1) Reviewing and aligning departmental roadmaps across the ministries for agriculture and rural development. 2) Expanding the Lakhpati Didi programme. 3) Taking important decisions connected to farmers and rural communities.
