What happened: Commitment program to translate “Shakti Ki Saptadhara” into stakeholder action

A commitment program for departments under the Ministries of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare and Rural Development was organised at C. Subramaniam Auditorium, Pusa (New Delhi) to align stakeholders with the Prime Minister’s “Shakti Ki Saptadhara” announced from the ramparts of the Red Fort on Independence Day. Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan initiated the programme and administered a collective pledge to officials, employees, scientists, farmers, Lakhpati Didis, food processors, exporters, and representatives of Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs).

Minister of State Bhagirath Choudhary and secretaries of four departments were present. Department roadmaps and priorities were presented by secretaries, covering agricultural research and innovation, agricultural production and quality improvement, Lakhpati Didi and rural livelihoods, and land conservation and water management.

Background and earlier position: Agriculture–rural development coordination through value chains and women-led livelihoods

The Agriculture and Rural Development focus in the programme rests on value-chain coordination—from farm production to processing and market access—along with rural livelihood strengthening through women-led self-help group ecosystems. The programme connected farmers, food processors, exporters, SHG women through the Lakhpati Didi initiative, and FPOs as shared delivery partners.
