What happened: DFS organised PSB Confluence 2026; Day 1 focused on four banking themes
The Department of Financial Services (DFS), Ministry of Finance, organised PSB Confluence 2026 as a two-day meeting for Public Sector Banks (PSBs), Public Financial Institutions (PFIs), senior Government officials, and domain experts.
Union Finance and Corporate Affairs Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and the Secretary, Department of Financial Services (DFS) addressed Day 1 of PSB Confluence 2026.
Nirmala Sitharaman highlighted historically low Non-Performing Assets (NPAs) as a strength for carrying forward the next phase of banking reforms. She also connected the theme Banking for Youth with a demographic fact stated in the event communication: 29% of India’s population is between 15 and 29 years of age.
DFS leadership set the objective of translating confluence deliberations into concrete and implementable outcomes for PSBs and PFIs, emphasising stronger institutional capabilities, use of successful approaches across institutions, and scaling of solutions.
