What happened: DFS convenes an implementation workshop across public financial institutions (20–21 August 2026)

The Department of Financial Services (DFS), Ministry of Finance, Government of India, convened a workshop on 20–21 August 2026 at the Union Bank of India Staff College, Bengaluru. The workshop’s subject was implementation of the Government of India’s Reservation Policy in Public Sector Banks (PSBs), Public Sector Insurance Companies (PSICs), Sectoral Regulators, and Public Financial Institutions (PFIs).

The workshop was organised in association with Union Bank of India. The event aimed at strengthening institutional capacity so that reservation policies are implemented in a more uniform and effective manner, along with promotion of welfare measures across public financial institutions.

Day 1: participation and deliberation on uniform implementation practices

On Day 1, the workshop was attended by over 100 participants. Participants included senior Human Resource functionaries and Chief Liaison Officers (CLOs) from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA), and Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI), along with staff from all 12 Public Sector Banks, 7 Public Sector Insurance Companies, and 7 Public Sector Financial Institutions.

Functional experts on reservation matters addressed the workshop. The workshop deliberations included a round table on practical aspects and issues faced during implementation of the reservation policy. The day ended with an interactive question-and-answer session focused on actionable measures for uniform implementation across the financial services ecosystem.
