What happened: 2nd BRICS 2026 Tourism Working Group meeting in Jaipur
India’s Ministry of Tourism hosted the 2nd BRICS 2026 Tourism Working Group (TWG) Meeting in Jaipur, Rajasthan on 20 August 2026. The meeting was held under India’s BRICS Chairship and was chaired by Shri Bhuvnesh Kumar, Secretary, Ministry of Tourism, Government of India.
BRICS delegates used the meeting to advance tourism cooperation across India’s BRICS thematic priorities covering Artificial Intelligence and Tourism, Sustainability and Responsible Tourism, Tourism Skilling and Capacity Building, and Tourism Exchanges and Seamless Travel Facilitation. The discussions were aligned to the overarching theme: “Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability”.
As part of the programme, BRICS delegates undertook a technical visit on 20 August 2026 to major tourism and heritage sites in Jaipur, including Hawa Mahal, City Palace, and Amer Palace.
Background and earlier position: 1st TWG meeting and continuity under India’s Chairship
The 2nd TWG meeting “built upon” the 1st BRICS 2026 Tourism Working Group Meeting, which was held virtually on 25 May 2026. The Working Group discussions also continued India’s BRICS Tourism Track, with consultations described by the Secretary as having enabled progress after the first TWG meeting.
