What happened: Jaipur Declaration adopted under India’s BRICS Tourism Chairship
The BRICS Tourism Ministers’ Meeting under India’s Chairship concluded in Jaipur with adoption of the BRICS Tourism Ministers’ Communiqué 2026 (Jaipur Declaration). The meeting provided a framework for strengthening tourism cooperation among BRICS Member States and was chaired by Union Minister for Culture and Tourism Shri Gajendra Singh Shekhawat. The meeting also marked the culmination of the BRICS Tourism Track under India’s Chairship in 2026, under the theme “Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability.”
Participation included nine BRICS Member States. Ministerial participation was from Brazil, Iran, South Africa, and the United Arab Emirates, and Heads of Delegation attended from China, Ethiopia, Indonesia, and Russia.
Background and earlier position: Work through the BRICS Tourism Working Group
The Jaipur Declaration builds on work undertaken through the BRICS Tourism Working Group during India’s Chairship. The working group focused on four thematic priorities: (i) Artificial Intelligence and Tourism, (ii) Sustainability and Responsible Tourism, (iii) Tourism Skilling and Capacity Building, and (iv) Tourism Exchanges and Seamless Travel Facilitation.
