What happened: July 2026 ICI (provisional) and June 2026 ICI (revised final)
The Ministry of Commerce and Industry released the Index of Core Industries (ICI) for July 2026 on a provisional basis and revised the final ICI for June 2026. The release reports year-on-year growth by core sectors and also updates the June numbers from provisional estimates to final values (base year 2022–23).
July 2026 (provisional): overall growth and sector-wise performance
On a year-on-year basis, ICI grew by 5.4% in July 2026 (Provisional Estimate) compared with July 2025. The July growth rate is slightly lower than June 2026’s final year-on-year growth rate of 6.0%.
Sector-wise year-on-year growth rates reported for July 2026 are:
• Iron Ore: 29.5% • Cement: 13.1% • Electricity: 9% • Coal: 7.6% • Steel: 2.9% • Refinery Products: 2.7% Natural Gas, Crude Oil, and Fertilizers recorded negative growth in July 2026 (year-on-year).
