What happened: 12th BRICS Communications Ministers’ Meeting in Pune
The Ministry of Communications, Government of India led the 12th BRICS Communications Ministers’ Meeting in Pune, Maharashtra under the Chairship of India. The meeting was chaired by Shri Jyotiraditya M. Scindia, the Union Minister of Communications. Communications ministers and heads of delegation from BRICS member countries attended the meeting.
India introduced the ICT Track theme under India’s Chairship: “Innovate, Cooperate and Transform (ICT) for a Resilient Future”. The ICT Track contained four pillars:
- Sustainable and resilient digital and ICT ecosystems - Cybersecurity and trustworthy ICT - Digital skilling and capacity building - Innovation, startups and entrepreneurship
In opening remarks, Shri Jyotiraditya M. Scindia linked the ICT Track to technology changes mentioned in the government communication, including Artificial Intelligence (AI), Next Gen Networks, SATCOM, Cloud Computing, and advanced digital infrastructure.
