What happened

India and Brazil signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen bilateral cooperation in telecommunications and Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs). The MoU was signed on the sidelines of the BRICS ICT Track Meeting in Pune on 22 August 2026.

Union Minister Shri Jyotiraditya M. Scindia signed the MoU on behalf of the Government of India, along with H.E. Mr. Frederico de Siqueira Filho, Minister of Communications, Federative Republic of Brazil.

The MoU is presented as a step to advance digital innovation, strengthen digital infrastructure, and promote technological cooperation in strategic and emerging telecommunications and ICT areas. The announcement also highlights cooperation on universal connectivity, cybersecurity, Digital Public Infrastructure, emerging technologies, capacity building, and exchange of best practices.
